Laura U Interior Design is a full-service design firm with a 100% focus on residential design. We specialize in new construction and large-scale renovations, and work with clients locally and across the nation. But there are really 3 signature elements to our brand and design process that define our Classically Current style and how we approach every project.
Our #1 priority is to make this process as easy as possible for you. We are client-centered and offer any service you may need when building a new home. Such as relocation assistance, temporary furnishing of your existing home, architectural materials selections, detailed millwork, tile and moulding design, furniture design, construction management and furnishings installation…just to name a few!
So whether you’re in Houston looking to build somewhere else or are in another city or state looking to build in Houston, we’re here to help! Our goal is to make things as convenient as possible for you – we’re open to meeting in person, over Skype or even doing a GoTo meeting. We are experienced in managing all the logistics of a long-distance design relationship, so it’s one less thing for you to have to think about!
We have a structured, yet tailored design process. The first thing we do is get to know our clients – their likes, dislikes, lifestyles, and goals for the home. We’ll take a deep dive into your design plans, your wishes for your home, and how you see your lifestyle evolving in your new home. We peruse your inspiration images and ask loads of questions. We want to get to know you, your family, and how you live, in order to make you blissfully happy in your new home.
After that, we’ll start turning your plans into a reality! This process will start with an inspiration presentation. Then, we’ll put together a construction presentation with options and finishes for you to choose from. From there, we’ll move to a finalized construction presentation. These are the major milestones in our process, with continual communication between our team and you.
The next step is a final client sign off on the selections. Those will then be communicated to the architect and builder in a detailed and structured schedule. We respect your construction timeline and are here to keep the project moving forward by providing a beautiful and thoughtful design in a timely and clear way.
Now comes the fun part – furnishings! Our furnishings design process is similar to our construction process. We will start with an inspiration presentation, an initial design presentation and will then wrap up with a final design presentation focused on the furnishings.

We approach every project with the mindset of creating a Classically Current interior that exudes Livable Luxury. We want your home to represent you and your lifestyle, tastes, and personality, but in a way that will remain classic and timeless for years to come. All while staying true to our love for sophisticated and luxurious interiors.
At Laura U, the focus of every project is to create high-quality, classic designs and source quality furnishings and custom pieces to meet client’s lifestyle. Our rolodex of vendors and contractors includes architects, builders, landscape architects, pool designers, fine art installation, art consultants, professional organizers, housekeepers, fabric protection and so many more.
We source our furnishings from all over but focus on design houses and manufacturers in North Carolina, New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, and of course, Houston. Using local products is important to us, and we have local ‘go-to’ custom workrooms for window coverings, soft goods, and casegoods, as well as upholstery pieces. This is valuable for our designs and gives us the ability to have better quality control on our custom pieces. We’re able to focus more on each client’s pieces and monitor the process first hand. Plus, this is often less costly than purchasing from large manufacturers.
We want to offer our clients a personalized experience that is as stress-free as possible. (And trust me, I know how stressful moving can be!) We strive to create interiors that represent each client in a unique and Classically Current way – giving their home that is timeless, livable and completely tailored to them.
