High Point Market: Day 2

If you missed my day one recap of the High Point Market Design Bloggers Tour earlier this week, stop what you’re doing and check it out before you read any further! There were far too many fabulous designs the first day for you to miss out.

Caught up? Great! Now, let’s move on to uncovering all of the inspirations from day two.

After a restful night at the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in Winston-Salem, the Tour started the day with the dynamic Rachel Ashwell. Not only has she had her lifestyle brand, Shabby Chic, for 25 years, she is also an author, interior designer, furniture designer and all around boss. She was creating performance furniture before that was a thing – basically inventing the idea of livable luxury. I loved chatting with her and feel I met a kindred spirit! Oh, and the pieces from her newest collection did not disappoint either.

Following our inspiring chat with Rachel, we headed over to Joybird Furniture for an informative visit, where our friends demonstrated the resilience of Crypton Home Fabrics. A longtime fan of Crypton, the stain-resistant powers of the fabrics were no surprise to me, but I always love a good demo, and it was the perfect opportunity to check out the stunning pieces from Joybird’s newest collection!

Next, we popped over to Universal Furniture for a tour of their new introductions. I have to say, they have the BEST staging. Their vignettes were thoughtful and the kid’s spaces were adorable. We also met and chatted with the brains behind many of their best pieces, Alexander Julian. He was a total charmer!

After a stop at Artefama, where we viewed their sustainably-sourced hardwood furnishings, we jumped over to the MT Company to check out their collections, also adorned in Crypton! I especially loved hearing from Joe Ruggiero, a legend in the industry, and meeting his lovely wife, Barbara. They are a power couple if I have ever seen one and the nicest people you will ever meet. Joe swears the tea table is coming back and I can’t help but agree (I have one in my own living room). A tea table is taller than a cocktail table and we sometimes refer to it as “conversation cocktail” height. Something about them just feels so proper – love!

How charming are these MT Company pieces covered in Crypton fabric??

And that wraps up my visit to the spring High Point Market as a member of the Design Bloggers Tour! From the amazing new collections to the conversations with the most innovative leaders in interior design, it was a whirlwind experience filled with an overwhelming amount of inspiration. I can’t wait to start incorporating pieces from the fantastic new collections into designs for my clients.
