Team Obsessions: What We Love in May

There is no better time to breathe new life into your home than spring! It’s a season that’s a true feast for the senses – perfect for introducing festive pops of color into the home and the kinds of refreshing looks meant to last (and wow!) in the sunny months to come.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or working through a complete design overhaul, we hope these favorites of ours will get your creative juices flowing!

Keep reading to learn more about what our team is obsessed with this month.

Pier 1 Hanging Chair

The Laura U team is always looking for interesting furniture and designs that are stunning, functional and won’t break the bank. This hanging chair from Pier 1 is a perfect example of how to design on a dime – so much look for such a great price!  – Laura Umansky, president and creative director

New York floral designer Lewis Miller

Miller recently placed enormous floral arrangements into trash bins along NYC sidewalks and it’s just the greatest.  Imagine how many smiles stemmed (pun intended) from this! – Blair Foster, associate designer

Local female artists

Every second Saturday of the month, The Silos at Sawyer Yards host an open house market event that I attended recently. If you have never been, I HIGHLY recommend it!  The Silos are full of such talented local artists that are kind enough to open their studios to the public. I had the pleasure to meet some amazing female artists and I was truly inspired by (and am obsessing over) their work! Artists Leslie Gaworecki , Jodie King, and Adrienne Wong are just a few that I connected with and whose art really resonated with me. I cannot wait to incorporate the some of these talented ladies into my upcoming projects! Shenay Keyes, interior designer

Anthropologie Count to Six Knobs

I love adding fun, decorative hardware in powder rooms and kids’ rooms. I am obsessed with all things French and can’t get enough of these darling knobs from Anthropologie. They add a whimsical element and soft pop of color. I can’t wait to incorporate these into an upcoming design project for a little girl’s room I’m working on! – Shannon Smith, interior designer

Blow Occasional Tables from Gloster (designed by Henrik Pedersen)

Since summer is just around the corner, sourcing outdoor furniture is definitely on our radar! However, when Martha Lurie with John Brooks Houston presented our design team with Gloster’s 2017 collection, I immediately fell in love. The glazed ceramic base and natural teak table top is the perfect combination for a poolside cabana or patio seating area. – Letecia Haywood, principal designer

We felt like anything was possible in the month of May and we can’t wait to put some of these unique pieces in the homes of our clients in the months to come. Be sure to check back here each month to see what our team is obsessing over here at Laura U. For more design inspiration, follow us on Pinterest and Instagram.

  1. Great list of May must-haves! Stunning art & decor that would look great in any home this summer, which is why we featured this on the Studio Designer’s twitter, as we so frequently do your blogs, as you are such a great writer. https://twitter.com/studiowebware/status/873944165322588162
