2017 was FAB! Cheers to 2018!
Happy New Year and welcome 2018! Although we love the holidays, the anticipation of a brand new year starting has got us feeling refreshed and ready to get back to work. Let me say that 2017 was a fantastic year, but I have a feeling that 2018 will have just as many exciting projects and gorgeous photoshoots. But before we get started on all the new projects we have coming up, let’s take a quick look back at some of the major highlights of 2017.
One of the biggest milestones of the year was celebrating Laura U turning 10! It’s hard to believe that we’ve been in business for ten years already. We’ve had so much fun bringing gorgeous interiors to life and creating dream homes for our clients that time has flown by!
And on that note, we had so many fabulous installs in 2017. We are still waiting for many of them to be photographed, but wanted to give you a peek at a few of our favorites!
This California based project is amazing! It’s full of zen vibes that reflect the glamorous Cali lifestyle and the homeowner’s grounded worldviews. We had such fun working on this project and were so excited to find out that the exterior space won an Honorable Mention at the 2017 ASID Ruby Awards.
Contemporary Boho Minimalism
This project was all about using natural light and layers of textures in the design. We matched the contemporary architecture of the home’s exterior with the homeowner’s laid-back and relaxed lifestyle. The interior meshed our client’s love for modern, sleek lines and breezy bohemian textures. And we were so thrilled to find out that this project had won 2 ASID Awards!
If you’re looking for beautiful examples of how to mix traditional with something modern, look no further than art and books. The inspiration behind this space was the homeowner’s curated art and book collection. It was gorgeous! We mixed neutral tones with bold colors to complement the collections within each space.
Pied a Terre
This cozy pied-a-terre is a relaxing and soothing blend of natural tones and warm neutrals. And the intriguing artifacts from the homeowner’s travels were the showpieces in this space. We were so excited when we found out it was published in Rue Magazine. If you’d like to see the article, you can see it here!
Another very special milestone of 2017 was being able to partner with Dec My Room. They’re a wonderful organization that brings joy and healing to children in need. In honor of their 10 anniversary, we partnered with them to decorate 10 children’s hospital rooms. We loved having the opportunity to work with them to create warm, inviting spaces for children in what was previously a sterile feeling hospital room. It was such a great experience and one of my fave things of 2017!
Last but not least..
I bought a house which has become The Boulevard Show House! (If you haven’t heard about it, you can check out all the details here) This was probably the biggest, most exciting and scary undertaking of 2017. Buying and moving to a new home is never easy, especially when it includes a large-scale renovation of a 1925 historic home. It’s been crazy! We’ve made a lot of progress so far and have a wonderful team of skilled partners and sponsors to bring our vision come to life. I can’t wait for you to see it when it’s completed in Spring 2018. But until then, keep your eye out for updates on the blog, our Facebook page and the BLVD Show House website!
Wow, what a year! 2017 was fabulous and full of wonderful memories. I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store because we have some BIG things planned. So stay tuned!
