At Laura U, we design interiors that are both serene and punchy, often they are lovely and quiet but always unexpected. Over the years I have found that sometimes a room just needs that little something extra! What better way is there to inject a touch of fun than with bold and unique accent chairs. Now, the options are endless — we have lounge chairs, host chairs, wing chairs, and hanging chairs to fit every style. There are just so many options out there that make my design heart happy! With all these styles, sizes, shapes and colors there are accent chairs perfect for every space in your home.
Admittedly, I have a bit of a chair addiction. I have accent chairs just about everywhere! To help narrow our – uh hem, my – focus, here is my roundup of my top 8 accent chairs that I just had to share! Ranging from cool and comfy to over the top luxury, these accent chairs can bring a relaxed vibe or eye-catching drama to your interiors.
Let’s dive right in!
1. Tom Dixon’s Fan Chair Natural
This is one of my absolute favorites – in fact, it’s sitting in the Laura U office as we speak! This lounge chair is the perfect representation of a Classically Current design. It draws influences from a British classic (the Windsor Chair) and has re-purposed it in a way that is ultra modern and sleek. The overscale piece is fabulous.
2. Ligne Roset’s Beau Fixe Designed by Inga Sempé
This cozy number is next on the list. We’ve recently installed this accent chair in one of our client’s homes…and I’m still dreaming of it! What’s super unique about this chair is that it’s made out of a quilt, with the metal structure acting as a big clamp – forming the rectangular design. How cool is that?!
3. Anthropologie’s Knotted Melati Hanging Chair
Ahh, the hanging chair. It’s so fun, whimsical and a definite show stopper. Now mix it with the ever so trendy Boho style and you have yourself a match made in design heaven! This accent chair from Anthropologie is just everything. Not only is it affordable, it encompasses all that we love about the Boho aesthetic.
4. Hable Construction’s Collection with Hickory Chair | Tate Arm Chair with Glided Legs
Now, I’m all about adding structure to a room and this mid-century inspired accent chair has all the sculpted lines and angles one could want! The details of gold on the tapered legs add drama to the navy and Walnut hues of the chair – a perfect touch of elegant masculinity.
5. Kelly Wearstler’s Souffle Cocktail Chair
Kelly has outdone herself with this one. First off, it’s a chair and a cocktail table COMBINED…how clever! This accent chair would be the perfect addition to a quirky lounge or bar, so of course, it made my list. I personally love this Arizona Olive color, the neutral tones give a needed balance to the whimsical details of this piece.
6. Windsor Smith for Century Furniture | Solstice Chair
Okay, how cute is this accent chair designed by Windsor Smith? It has quickly moved its way to my top selections! I’m loving the European influences of the high, rounded back and armrests – such a great way to add some grace and femininity to a room
7. Baker Furniture’s Almandine Lounge Chair
This funky accent chair from Jean Louis Deniot for Baker is exactly what I think of when vintage luxe meshes with comfort. I’m loving the structural arm rests and juxtaposition of the bronze front legs against the wooden back legs. It’s a cool spin on the classic lounge chair!
8. Theodore Alexander’s Willoughby Chair
Lastly, the swivel chair. It’s a fun way to make a statement in a living room or lounge. This piece from Michael Berman for Theodore Alexander has merged details of the wooden yoke handle at the back with a rounded oak base to give this accent chair a contemporary, yet retro feel. Very West Coast cool.
Whew, that wraps up my top 8… and I want all of them in my own home! How about you?
