August obsessions: Vibrant tones, geometric prints and modern decadence
August flew by for the Laura U team! We’re back in the office today from the unexpected time away due to Hurricane Harvey. Our hearts go out to all the Texans that were affected by the storm. After touching base with all our local clients, we’re thankful to report that everyone is safe and dry. Looking back at August we are all amazed at where we started the month. We kicked off August at the Las Vegas Market – where we found tons inspiration from our favorite showrooms – and made some major progress on a few big projects (including my own home!) To say it’s been an eventful month would be an understatement, right?
As we close out summer, there are lots of new trends and collections that are setting the tone for the upcoming season…and we are loving it! Vibrant tones of blues, greens, and purples, soft pastels, chic details, and bold geometric prints have us all obsessing this month. We are so excited to see the bold colors of summer aren’t leaving us just yet! So don’t be afraid to leave those bright pinks and green accent pillows out a little longer and take a peek at what has us all inspired this past month.
The Bold & The Vivid
The One Play Tile Collection from La Nova is so funky! La Nova always has such fun collections and continually finds a way to mix in classic elegance with bold statement patterns. I’m loving this collection, especially this color way of Green, Red, and Snow. I am very into blending aqua, red and white right now – wonder why (ah hem… pool cabana!)
– Laura Umansky, President, and Creative Director
I love the way Giopato & Coombes has elevated this sconce from an ordinary light source to a stunning piece of art with its sculptural elements and the striking details. Normally I’m a stickler for symmetry but I’m all about the asymmetry of this design. Combining the emerald green Murano glass and brass finish make this the ultimate statement sconce.
– Lexie Terry, Associate Designer
I’m currently obsessing over the Arlequins paper by Pierre Frey! It is playful and fun as it is made from drawings from the book “Toupie” by Jean Lurcat in 1925. Each drawing has such character and personality, making it the perfect punch for a small space.
– Lexi Fink, Associate Designer
Franklin, with Roll & Hill, stopped by this month to show me their newest collection, and it didn’t disappoint! I’m in love with the Kazimir Pendant. It’s uniquely modern. I’m also a fan of the Odds and Ends Teardrop – it gives a new take on a cloud wall sconce and can be mounted on the ceiling! Such a gorgeous collection full of elegant details and soft tones.
– Letecia Ellis Haywood, Principle Interior Designer
I am super obsessed with these place settings from The Firenze Collection by Julia B. This one, in particular, is my favorite – the coral tones with hints of chartreuse, blue and purple are divine. Inspired by the elegance of Florance, this collection is the perfect mesh of contemporary patterns and feminine details. Plus the dinner napkins are customizable. So fun!
– Blair Foster, Lead Designer
Such stunning collections – you can see why we’re obsessed! August brought an awesome preview of whats to come this Fall, and we are so inspired. So as the summer draws to an end, don’t be afraid to mix in some vibrant colors or geometric pieces into your interiors this Fall. It is a great way to keep the essence of Summer fresh and alive within in your home all year long!
