The holiday season is such a special time of year! I hope your holiday is filled with delicious food and good cheer. If your family is like me, you have some fun – and maybe quirky – holiday traditions. Whether you enjoy the light shows, plays, festivals, decorating, baking, going to see the Nutcracker, gathering for a family dinner, taking a trip or selecting the perfect gift for everyone on your list, there’s so much to look forward to.
The holiday season is here and another fabulous year is coming to a close. There have been so many wonderful memories and exciting opportunities that this year has brought, but there’s one in particular that stands out in my mind: Working with Dec My Room. This unique and outstanding charity was founded by Susan Plank and her daughter Kendall in August 2007 (the same year as Laura U was founded!). The organization works with volunteers (like the team at Laura U!) to shop and decorate a child’s hospital room at Texas Children’s Hospital. They turn what may have been a sterile space into a more cozy, personalized home-away-from-home.
As much as I love browsing social media or magazines for design inspiration, it’s always much more exciting to see things in person…which is why I love going to Furniture Market. So when the opportunity came up to attend the brand new Hotel ZaZa hardhat tour for design bloggers, I knew we had to go!
Hey Guys! I’ve got some big and exciting news over at the Laura U studio. Our Team just attended the ASID Ruby Awards this past Sunday and ended the night with not one, but SIX awards!. I am so proud of this amazing team. Their hard work, mixed with uber-amounts of talent has produced gorgeous projects over the past years. And I am thrilled to see them recognized by their Interior Design industry peers within the American Society of Interior Designers this year.
When you want to learn about the latest in fashion, you watch runway shows or read your favorite fashion mag. When you want to learn about latest happenings in the design world, you go to High Point Market. It’s the largest furnishings trade show in the world and the best place to source the hottest products and learn about trends in interior design. I’m so excited to share what I did while I was there last week and give you a sneak peek at some of my favorite trends and pieces. So let’s jump in!
Viva La Recap? By now I’m hoping all of you are up to speed on all our exciting finds from our first day at Las Vegas Market.
We saw some great pieces on our 1st venture through Las Vegas Market and the 2nd day didn’t dissapoint! It was a whirlwind of great finds, tons of showrooms and zero downtime! I’d say day two of LVMKT was our busiest for sure. So let’s just dive on in!
The Laura U Team kicked off the month of August in the lively city of Las Vegas! A couple of weeks ago we jetted off to Sin City and the Summer 2017 Las Vegas Market. Over the course of 2 days, we soaked up all the inspiration we could handle from our favorite design houses showcased at the World Market Center. We also hit up the fabulous hotels, bars, and restaurants for a healthy dose of design inspiration. Super excited to share all our biggest discoveries and noteworthy finds from the city that never sleeps!
If you missed my day one recap of the High Point Market Design Bloggers Tour earlier this week, stop what you’re doing and check it out before you read any further! There were far too many fabulous designs the first day for you to miss out.
Caught up? Great! Now, let’s move on to uncovering all of the inspirations from day two.
As I mentioned last week, I recently had the pleasure of joining a group of fabulous designers from across the country for the Design Bloggers Tour at the spring High Point Market. During an action-packed 48 hours, we toured the showrooms and viewed the newest introductions from the very best of the interior design world.

What a whirlwind the last couple of weeks have been! I recently returned from an amazing vacation in Cartagena, Colombia celebrating the wedding of two fantastic people (I highly recommend a trip if you have never been!), and right before we headed out on our Colombian adventure, I was “on tour” in North Carolina.
No, I haven’t left the interior design world in pursuit of a musical career, but I was lucky enough to be a member of the Design Blogger’s Tour at the spring High Point Market. Presented by the fab team behind the Design Blogger’s Conference, the tour brought together a fantastic and diverse group of design bloggers for a two-day tour of some of High Point’s best showrooms and events with the best and brightest minds in design.
