Design Architect

Description: We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and collaborative Design Architect to work in tandem with our Creative Director. This is a management seat in our design firm and requires a highly creative professional that can execute on Residential New Construction and Renovation Design. 

 

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in architecture from an accredited program
  • A minimum of 7 years of design experience required
  • Licensure strongly preferred, or licensure eligibility a plus 

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Hand Drafting/Sketching: Expert
  • AutoCAD: Expert
  • Revit, Sketchup, and 3D rendering a plus
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Photoshop and Illustrator a plus
  • Residential construction administration experience required
  • Ability to complete new construction and remodel design from schematic phase onward with little oversight
  • Must have residential design experience within the last 3 years 

 

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Interact with High Net Worth clients (must be very comfortable being client-facing) 
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects, maintain a balanced workflow and meet deadlines 
  • Collaborate with interior design team, lighting designers, audio/video contractors, developers, builders, general contractors, vendors, and fabricators 
  • Daily Communication with Creative Director 
  • Meet quarterly with leadership to review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)  
  • Create compelling architectural designs of the highest quality:  Design Program, Conceptual/Schematic Design, Design Development, Management of Budgets & Schedules, and Construction administration 
  • Understand wood-frame construction and proficient knowledge of residential building codes 
  • Prepare, review and redline construction drawings 
  • Serve as a Quality Control manager for all drawings leaving the company 
  • Create designs from Schematic Design phase and lead a team to produce a set of documents for production  
  • Ability to incorporate applicable building codes and standards into projects 
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage a small team of designers (3 or more individuals): Structured Mentoring, Clear delegation of tasks on each project, Review work for quality and accuracy, and Constructive criticism 
  • Create, distribute and manage a project budget with team compliance 
  • Schedule multiple projects concurrently, while meeting project deadlines and adhering to budget
