Located in Houston’s Southampton Place, this modern home stands in contrast to the neighborhood’s prevailing Georgian architecture. With a bright white façade and large, black-framed windows, Dunstan’s exterior is happily unexpected. Inside, the space relies on a subdued palette, clean lines, and nature-inspired bursts of color to delight the homeowners at every turn.
We were inspired by our clients’ Cali Cool aesthetic to create a home that was airy, welcoming, and focused on a fantastic art collection. The owners are keen collectors, and our design team thoughtfully considered how to marry interior selections with each piece. A Michael Kennaugh hangs over a carved console in the formal dining room, balancing contemporary lines with rustic woods. Houston artist Terrell James is represented in an abstract piece in the living area, harmonizing with the pops of color found throughout the room.
Art is celebrated in this home, as well as the city of Santa Fe, where our clients also reside. From the cactus-colored leatherette on the Lawson Fenning bar stools to the massive scale of Kelly Wearstler’s Rousseau chandelier in the master retreat, the home honors the Land of Enchantment with leather, rusty reds, and sandy tones.
