North Boulevard

BOULEVARD OAKS in HOUSTON, TEXAS

Home to the Founder and Creative Director of Laura U Interior Design, this 1925 Tudor Revival rests on the iconic North Boulevard in the historic district of Boulevard Oaks in Houston, Texas. Laura Umansky had been dreaming of this street since she and her husband Michael moved to Houston in 2001. While the neighborhood was love at first sight, the home itself had fallen into disrepair and required an extensive restoration.

The renovation took a total of 10 months to complete, and even managed to survive Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall just 2 weeks after the renovation began.  project resumed with quick momentum. The original kitchen was tight, with an awkward flow for entertaining. It was completely gutted and fitted with high-end Monogram appliances and Bentwood cabinetry. Schenck and Co. restored all original floors and installed new French Oak throughout the first floor. Marvin Windows provided the historically accurate windows that reflect how the home would have looked in its glory days. Hand-painted Gracie Wallpaper and Crypton drapery make the dining room a showstopper, while the custom furnishings ensure the home will be functional and comfortable for this family of four.

The design is a true reflection of Laura, Michael, and their twin daughters, Liv and Ryan. Collected, purposeful, and filled with beautiful details, each room was designed to feel both stylish and comfortable.
