We love designing interiors that are based on the key elements of classic elegance, functionality, and comfort. In this recent project, these components were our main focus. Our client has a young family and a love for travel so we wanted a space that was functional and family-friendly. The homeowner fell in love with the warm and natural hues of the desert town of Sedona and wanted to pull in the earthy textures and tones throughout her home. The result – a design that is modern yet, soothing and comfortable all tied together within a neutral color palette.
So let’s take a look back at this neutral-toned beauty which, I am thrilled to report, just received an Honorable Mention Award at the American Society of Interior Designers TX Ruby Awards last weekend!
Within this design, we strived to create an interior that adheres to both of the driving design philosophies at Laura U: Livable Luxury and Classically Current interiors. We wanted this home to be easy to maintain as well as glamorous and sleek. Our goal throughout this project was to marry the client’s desire for a modern home with her love for natural and organic elements. We selected a color palette layered with neutrals, metallics, and earth tones in a nod to the color palette of Sedona. The detailing throughout the home also took influence from the client’s passion for ethnic and Moroccan design, which we interpreted to create a contemporary style by selecting structured and modern pieces with unique textural details.
The chic dining room greets you when you enter the home. It is open plan design is adorned with golden accents and sculptural furniture pieces. The dining chairs and art from Phillips Collection make a statement with their organic structure. The seatbelt woven design of the chairs is unique and unexpected, adding interest to the simplistic dining table. Warm hues of tan and gold carry over to the walls with the bold Mangrove Wood Root Mirror from Made Goods and white oak credenza from Ambella Home, which adds in some cool natural elements to the modern space.
Moving to this crisp, neutral great room – This space is sleek, cozy and modern with architectural details present in the gorgeous Palecek lounge chairs and geometric pendants from Anthropologie. I love the mixture of the brass tones against the soft creams and beiges of the sectional and area rug. Plus, the fresh white walls act as the perfect backdrop to these metallic accents. Rounded, pebble-like ottomans were added to create a soft contrast the textures and angles within this room. The perfect balance!
Peeking from behind the great room is this striking kitchen! We partnered with the fabulous kitchen studio, Madeval, to create a kitchen that would embody our theme of Livable Luxury. This kitchen is extraordinarily organized and exhibits the clean lines and modern details that they are known for. The copper stove, vent hood, and pendants add a warm contrast against the crisp white cabinetry. We designed the waterfall island to be easy to maintain in a Calcutta-look porcelain to complement the metallic tones and sleek white of the walls and cabinetry. The custom bar stool in Glitz colorway from Kravet add to the glamour of the space.
The master bedroom is all things sleek and glamorous. The bold brass canopy bed from Bernhardt is definitely the star of the space. Its modern and luxurious, and every detail and accent within this room was selected to complement this striking piece. The color palette keeps the neutral theme of creams and crisp whites, pulling in a glow from the natural light from the wall-length window, shaded by drapery from Kast Fabrics. The Hanley Flush Mount and Philomena table lamps from Arteriors complete the space, adding an organic and contemporary vibe to the room.
Lastly, is this glam master bath. Its striking white vanity and marble floor, which flows up on to the shower walls, create a continuous feel of luxury throughout this space. Accents of gold in the hardware, faucet, and shower-head heighten the level of sophistication. The Polaris sconces in antique brass and acrylic stool from Interlude add some mid-century modern details to complete this gorgeous design.
Clearly, you can have it all!
This home is a favorite for the Laura U Team because it embodies all that we love about Livable Luxury: it is glam, sophisticated and family-friendly. Even the client’s pup got in on our photo shoot action and we didn’t bat an eye when he jumped up on the perfectly white arm of the sectional. That is what it is all about!
