As much as I love browsing social media or magazines for design inspiration, it’s always much more exciting to see things in person…which is why I love going to Furniture Market. So when the opportunity came up to attend the brand new Hotel ZaZa hardhat tour for design bloggers, I knew we had to go!
The newest Hotel ZaZa property is located in Memorial off the Katy Freeway and was designed by Kirksey Architects and Kathy Andrews Interiors. This location was inspired by the quintessential mid-century modern style of Palm Springs. The architecture, interior lighting fixtures, and wall covering selections really punctuated the design style. The hotel has 159 rooms that come with standard hotel amenities but in a true Hotel ZaZa style.
Although it’s still under construction, we were able to do a complete tour of the never-before-seen property, plus get a sneak peek at a few of the famed Magnificent Seven Suites! Let me just say they didn’t disappoint! This is definitely a luxurious and sophisticated hotel. Each hotel room has its own fun and unique theme.
The concept suites are full of indulgent finishing touches and upgraded amenities…sounds pretty relaxing to me! Then there are the Magnificent Seven Suites. These are individually conceptualized suites on the 10th floor. They’re all super unique and…well magnificent. We got a sneak peek at some of the rooms on this floor – Beach House, French Connection, and Godfather. My fave was the French Connection, a Mod, Paris-inspired room with sleek lines. It was all about the black and white with fun printed accents!
These rooms were all about the details. I loved this fun Picasso inspired shower niche in the Godfather room. You can see through the window into the sitting area. How fun is that?! I would say that’s definitely a unique idea. And the Beach House room was the perfect way to feel like you were on a beach getaway.
As a part of our tour, we were also able to check out the ballroom, an ideal space for weddings. They even had a mock wedding going on complete with a wedding dress, priest and all! We then sampled some delish hors d’oeuvres from the new Tipping Point Restaurant crafted by Chef Wicks. My faves were the crabcake and smoked salmon – uhh, yum!
A glimpse at what the completed Ballroom will look like!
A rendering of the finished Palm Spring-Inspired restaurant, Tipping Point!
But did you know that there’s also a luxury apartment building situated on top of the hotel – I mean how convenient is that?! The McCarthy has 133 units and offers studio apartments, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom apartments. What’s even better, is that in addition to the apartment amenities, residents also get access to hotel perks like the ZaSpa (how nice!) and the Tipping Point restaurant. And during our tour, we were able to see a model apartment… they’re pretty great, the location is awesome for walking to dinner and shopping.
The hotel is set to be completed by December 1, right in time for the holidays. I think we’ll have to go back for another visit once it’s completed because it’s sure to be gorgeous and the perfect spot for a cocktail overlooking the famed Zaza pool scene!
