Can you believe that we are in October?! The team is really excited about the arrival of fall and it finally starting to feel cooler during the day. We’re all definitely looking forward to the cozy weather and being able to wear our favorite fall fashions.
This month the team began work on some new client projects and I had the opportunity to head out to California for a few days for a site visit – so exciting! One of my favorite things about starting a new project is getting to uncover our client’s story and finding unique ways to bring their story to life through their home’s design.
And when it comes to design, this month the team has been obsessing over some seriously gorgeous designs. From colorful artwork to hand crafted pottery to an innovative building facade, these obsessions definitely tell a story!
“There are so many things I love about this room. It’s hard for me to narrow it down to a few things. I love the use of bold colors which are balanced out by a mix of black and white accents. And don’t even get me started on the sculptural blue chairs because I’m truly obsessed!”
“I’m obsessed with Jamie Beckwith’s decorative tile! I received this beautiful collection from Designer Floors of Houston and her collaboration with Windsor Smith “nailed it” with its unique designs and colors. I can’t wait to use this tile on a project!”
“My obsession is this Chanel store, which uses a combination of glass brick and regular brick! A rep from Innova Tile came to the Laura U studio to talk to us about the process of working on this material and I have never seen anything like it! It’s contemporary, unique, and so tasteful. It’s such an amazing twist on a classic brick facade and works beautifully with the adjacent buildings.”
“When the seasons change, I always get the urge to get creative and right now I’m obsessing over handmade pottery. I love the thought of immersing yourself, getting your hands dirty, and really working to create something. Yvette De Lacy at Mountain Clay, an artist I recently stumble on, creates some beautiful and unique pieces inspired by the the local mountain and forest scenery. The warm hand crafted details are incredible and really tell a story.”

I hope today’s post has you feeling inspired and ready to update your home for fall with some fabulously designed pieces. I can’t wait to see how the team incorporates some of these into the new projects they’re working on! Be sure to follow me on Instagram for a behind the scenes look at what’s happening at the studio.
Patterns and soft textures with warm vivid colors. September cannot get any better than that, and for that matter, I’d take these obsessions any time of the year IMO.
