Sustainable textiles that we love

sustainable textiles,
When my team and I curate the pieces for an interior design project, heirloom quality and sustainability are two important factors we take into consideration. We work with our clients to select fabrics and coverings that will last for years to come and not have to be quickly replaced.

We want our clients to know the pieces they select will stand the test of time and can be lovingly passed from generation to generation. And as a mom, I know how important is it to select textiles that are able to stand up to the wear and tear of everyday life.

But as a designer, I also appreciate visually stunning textiles. I love using unique textiles in our projects to create a design that’s specific to each client and their home. Plus, textiles are a fabulous way to mix prints and layer your home with warmth.

Textiles have come along way and you no longer have to choose between luxury or livability in your home. You can have both! And with the ability to customize the design and colorways, you can choose textiles that best fit your lifestyle.

So today I want to share four of my favorite places to source sustainable textiles.

Lindsay Cowles

I would have never thought to turn art into textiles, but that’s exactly what Lindsay Cowles is doing. She digitally manipulates her paintings into patterns for wallcoverings, textiles and pillows. The best part is that you can customize the color, repeat and material of her artful designs. All I can say is with gorgeous designs like hers, why would you have plain walls?!

Crypton

With little ones around messes and spills are bound to happen, so having easy to clean textiles are a must. Crypton is the perfect fabric because it’s stain, moisture and odor resistant, (but still luxurious!) so you don’t have to worry about constantly cleaning up messes. And since I have kiddos myself, I did the couch for our new home in Crypton fabric and absolutely love it!

Galbraith and Paul

Doing something custom may sound like it would be complicated and confusing process, but it doesn’t have to be. Galbraith and Paul make creating custom wallpaper a straightforward and easy process. They’re made to order in a wide palette of fresh, yet sophisticated colors and mirror the subtle surfaces and textures of their fabrics. They elegantly translate the artisanal hand of the block print to the wall.

Supply

This is where all your textile dreams come true! Supply is a boutique fabric, leather, rug, lighting, furniture, and wallpaper showroom. Their trade lines are sourced from all over the world and represent the cutting edge of the modern, sophisticated aesthetic. The lines they carry are exclusive to Supply in Texas and I love that you can usually find whatever you’re looking for.

By selecting furnishings made from sustainable materials, our clients can feel confident about what they’re bringing into their home. Gone are the days when you have to worry about replacing or reupholstering pieces quickly. These sustainable textiles look gorgeous from day to day and will last for years to come.

Let me know in the comments below which one of the textiles I shared today was your favorite.
