Team Obsessions: The Summer of Style

Summertime is the perfect moment to celebrate your personal style. Whether you have an eye for all things rustic, gravitate towards more of a romantic interior, or like a modern look when it comes to your home’s aesthetic, there’s no better time than now to experiment with doses of deep color, eclectic textures and unique accent pieces that will last you from season to season.

The team at Laura U is constantly drawing inspiration from unexpected people and places. Their vision then translates into the stunning work they do, which constantly amazes me! I’m so thankful to work alongside such a brilliant group who always keeps things interesting.

Colorful Collab with Carrie Colbert

Of all the rooms in a home, nurseries and kids’ rooms are some of my absolute favorites to design! The creative use of color is almost always encouraged and the imaginative possibilities are endless. So, when my friend and always-fab fashionista, Carrie Colbert, announced she is expecting a little girl this summer, I jumped at the chance to help her create a whimsical nursery.

A long-time fan of Carrie’s blog, Wear + Where + Well, I have always admired her fun and creative use of color in her ensembles and, as a huge advocate of vibrant hues in my designs, I knew our styles would blend perfectly for this project. In fact, I missed my first chance to work directly with Carrie about five years ago when my team designed the interiors for her new home because I was on maternity leave with my twins at the time!

Now that the stars have aligned, I am super excited to collaborate with her on this project and share the process with you along the way. Read on to learn more about the start of this fab collaboration!

Interior Design: June Finds

We are now halfway through 2016 (so hard to believe!), and as each month passes, the team finds new and interesting styles or pieces that we like to pull from for inspiration in our fabulous, Classically Current designs.

Here are some favorite finds we spotted in June that are sure to elevate our interiors!

Molly Hatch Ceramics

“I love Molly Hatch’s new take on the classic blue and white ginger jar look. Her large art pieces, all done on plates, create a large scale piece of art that is made up of beautiful little pieces. A fabulous twist on the typical china displayed on the dining wall with a wonderful European feel.” – Laura Umansky, President and Creative Director

Out of the Box Wallcoverings

As I create design boards and sketches for my clients, I always strive to use every square inch of a room to its full potential. Sometimes, the design requires more emphasis on smaller details like a unique side table, the perfect floral arrangement or delicate trim along accent pillows. Other times, the design may call for more striking and lavish features like a bold light fixture that takes center stage or, in this case, a fab wallcovering to clothe an entire room with stunning visual appeal.

Wallcoverings have become a favorite design tool of mine because of the opportunities they provide to really make an impactful statement in the overall design of a room. Depending on the tone my client wants to achieve, I tend to opt for wallcoverings that bring bold, textured or elegant elements to my classically current interior designs. Whether dressing up a chic bathroom or incorporating a classic design into a master bedroom, I love the opportunities to get creative with the four walls of a room.

Here are some of my favorite ways to think out of the box about wallcoverings!
